art coming your way in 2025
Welcome to our 2025 newsletter,
There are three solo exhibitions taking place this year, and we have news to share as well…
Elemental
A solo exhibition of new work by Julian Le Bas will take place at Star Brewery Gallery, Lewes BN7 1YJ from 7 - 15 June with a private view 6 - 8pm on Friday 6 June. Coastal and South Downs subjects have furthered Julian’s inspiration to explore their form and rhythm through painting and drawing.
Hello Colour
Our Artwave festival show is a solo show of new paintings by Jo Lamb. The exhibition concentrates on looking at the power of colour. Hello Colour will take place in The Studio from 6 - 21 September with a private view 6 - 8pm on Friday 5 September.
England Road
Then we head to Soho to present Julian Bell’s new show, his first in London for six years. It takes a dream journey through the strange terrain that is his own native soil, offering a unique window onto a panoramic imagination. England Road takes place 14 - 19 October at 15 Bateman Street, W1D 3AQ, with a private view reception 5 - 7pm 14 October.
Welcome to Natasha O’Kane
We are now a family business, with founder Sarah joined by daughter-in-law Natasha. Natasha grew up on a North Devon farm and studied Art Foundation at Falmouth School of Art before heading to University of the Arts (London) to train in fashion journalism. She began working life at iconic publication Dazed and has now swopped a career as creative director at Refinery29 to join Sarah in her Sussex art business and focus once again on art. She has lifelong family connections to Lewes and since moving to East Sussex two years ago, has enjoyed discovering all this vibrant art scene has to offer. As a member of Lewes Pilot Gig Club, Natasha is often part of a crew rowing out to sea or along the Ouse from Newhaven Marina.
COLOUR at Royal Pavilion Brighton
We are delighted that three Lewes artists will take part in the forthcoming COLOUR exhibition programme at the Royal Pavilion Brighton.
Peter Messer, Julian Bell and Jo Lamb will take part in Conversations in Colour, part of a fascinating programme of events. The exhibition opens on International Colour Day 21 March and runs until 19 October. Friend of SOKCFA, Royal Pavilion Curator and colour historian Alexandra Loske writes: ‘This exciting exhibition is a celebration of the Royal Pavilion’s opulent use of colour, which makes it one of the most unusual and pioneering historic buildings of its time.’ Details including bookings of workshops, tours and activities will be available from 28 February.
